The chemestry fair!

Hey guys! This is it! The last evaluation for this school term and school year! To wrap it up I would like to know a bit more of our last fair experience, which in my opinion, was really amazing!
Use these questions to reflect about your experience. Write a comment at the end of this blog. Copy and paste all the questions and as a group, answer them briefly.

1.    What are the participants or your group members of your Chemistry fair?

2.    Categorize your product into a field, for example: health, education, science & technology, grooming, food & cooking, etc.

3.    Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation.

4.    How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it.

5.    What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?

6.    Add a picture if you want.

You have until Friday June 26th to complete this task.
Thanks for sharing.

  1. 1. What are the participants or your group members of your Chemistry fair?

    Bladimir Rodríguez
    Leonardo Segura
    Enrique Villarreal

    2. Categorize your product into a field, for example: health, education, science & technology, grooming, food & cooking, etc.

The product that we choose is “ice cream without freeze” and we categorize into field food & cooking

    3. Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation

Many people associate the arrival of warm weather and heat with ice cream. However eating ice cream has many benefits, this delicious dessert is ideal for any time of year because it is a very complete food and is also very rich. In our experiment shown how to make ice cream and cold drinks keep well without using a freezer

    4. How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it
We decorate our stand in a way we give to all the visitors and teachers what idea we want to show them, for example our theme was ice cream without freeze so we put in all the table and behind us some ice cream figures to emphasize the idea, we put popsicles, also we put as shown in our freezing process

Also we have a name for our stand and we called “bellow zero”
    5. What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?

With this chemical project we learn that the ice cream is an everyday product that doesn’t need to elaborate much expertise and technology , with only use milk or fruit juice , ice , salt and a little of dedication and time the goal will be achieved .
It was a difficult but full benefits experience where we learned the relationship of chemistry to everyday products. Also the fair was a more didactic evaluation that gives us some tips like express our ideas to the public and organize an area according to our theme. Also in the elaboration of the project we learned as salt can interact with the ice and together be able to give a very efficient freezing process capable of cooling or freezing liquids substances in short time…

  2. 1.What are the participants or your group members of your Chemistry fair?
Valeria Brando, Gionela Lepage y Nathalie Pinto

    2. Categorize your product into a field, for example: health, education, science & technology, grooming, food & cooking, etc.
    Food & cooking

    3. Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation.
Our product, which was an ecologic chewing gum, is more than an amorphous, sticky substance that people just eat because it delicious or because they want to; the main one of the chewing gum is the gum base, which is a polymer. At this point is where we understand the chemistry part of the product, a polymer is a macromolecule formed by the union of small molecules. The importance is that the polymers are in everywhere, they conformed de cellulose, the DNA, the nylon, polyethylene, and many others materials we use and see daily in our lives. The reason of why this product is important, is because it is one of the most delicious snacks in all the world, but it is more, than an snack, it also help us to concentrate, it helps to calm the anxiety and it is used as a treatment to stop the snuff. In our case we made a chewing gum with natural polymers, which is more healthy and ecological.

    4. How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it.
We decorated our stand as a candy store, inspired by Dylan’s candy bar, but we change the name to gum and candy bar, according to our product and for be more original. We dressed like the sellers of the store using a kind of uniform, conformed by a polo sweater and white pants. All of this was made according to the product, even the name and the decoration. The decoration was candies and chewing gums all around the walls of the structure we used to represent the space of a store, also we decorate with the chemical form of the elements we used to make the chewing gum, as the arabig gum, glucose, glycerin, and others.

    5. What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?
As a team we learn many things, but the first thing or one of the most important was that we understand how every product we saw in the stores, food, or anything is related with chemistry, because all the materials that exist are conform by molecules, by atoms; in our case, to be more specific, we saw who the polymers are in the food, the clothes, in the human body, in the trees, plastic, in the cells and everywhere. In addition we learned more about the polymers, how the are created, which is by a chemical process called polymerization (that is by the union of monomers ), the properties of this materials, as an example that they are soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol, their density is smaller than the water, which is 1g/ml. Finally we can say that we understand how the chewing gum, a normal product of the life, can be related with chemistry; in other words how the chemistry is involved in our lives.

    1. What are the participants or your group members of your Chemistry fair?

Andres mata, miguel Méndez, daniel nava and Luis F pantin

    2. Categorize your product into a field, for example: health, education, science & technology, grooming, food & cooking, etc.
Our product can be classified as entertaniment, because its main function is Being a toy

    3. Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation. Also the clay is so important to help people hiperactivity problems and is a good destressing. It wasn't important to know the chemical aspects of our product, but it was important to know the basic aspects of our product because it's hard to explain the preparation of our clay if people don't know our product but it's easier to explain if they know the basics about our product

    4. How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it.
We decorated the table with colours and a tower of clay in pots, in the wall we added a target for people to try our product. We dressed simple, a colour shirt and a pair of jeans.

    5. What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?
We learned that the products we use in our daily life can be easily made and there's a huge amount of chemistry in each product we think it's simple
